Services
Our new double-decker bus is converted for play. Here children play together, do arts and craft activities, make new friends and have fun with our team of dedicated project workers. We have activities for children of all ages, from babies to teenagers.
We are currently working with Oxfordshire Rural Children's Centres. Helping to provide Parents and Children with Children Centres in Rural Oxfordshire. For more information please visit

It is also a UK online centre. We have computers, and a Satellite Internet link. This is principally for adults to enable them to gain confidence in computer use. Some will use the computers for fun, others will go on to further training with organisations such as Community Education.
Sensory Bus
A unique service bringing the fun and benefits of a multi-sensory environment to disabled children, and people with Alzheimer’s.
Minibuses
We have two minibuses (one accessible), to enable us to take groups on trips to places they could not otherwise access. These trips, for example, could be to a Local Activity Centre, a Family Centre, or to the seaside.
Community Development
Parents and carers meet each other on the bus. They could then decide that they wanted something permanent for their community. This can lead them to set up their own groups (e.g. for Early Years). We can support them with play ideas, equipment loans, fundraising support and our ‘Getting started…keeping going’ pack. We also undertake partnership work with other charities/voluntary groups across the county, that we support, by helping them to reach communities using our vehicles, fundraising and other facilities.
Toy Library Service – bringing toys to villages
Community groups, or individuals, are provided with boxes of toys (for age groups – under 3s, 3-5 and 5+) and a lending system. They decide on a lending fee and any proceeds go to support their group or a community activity. Every two months we exchange the toys for different ones.
This initiative is for rural areas only.
Protective Behaviours – supporting Thames Valley Police
Our project workers work alongside other agencies to support Junior Citizens. For thirteen weeks of the year they provide a Protective Behaviours Scenario. This alerts children to their own early warning signs of danger, encouraging them in patterns of behaviour that will help keep them safe. We want children to be safe at home, at school and at play.
Working with young people
Oxfordshire Playbus has always worked with children and young people of all ages. Now, thanks to the Big Lottery we work directly with groups of young people helping them to achieve their aspirations.
We provide youth workers to help the young people in rural Oxfordshire, get their youth provision in what ever form that suits them; whether it is an informal youth club, or as a group of volunteers helping in their local community.
